Last July 4th, PoliFab celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special event in Leonardo Campus with Politecnico institutions, students, researchers and professors, as well as people from corporations and startup companies.
Daniele Rocchi, Vice Rector for Technology Transfer and Corporate Relations at Politecnico, started off the event by stressing the importance of R&D and innovation in today’s complex global scenario.
PoliFab Director Andrea Melloni and Cleanroom Manager Claudio Somaschini on the other hand highlighted the 10-year history of achievments and growth of the facility, looking ahead to its upcoming move to the new Innovation Hub in Bovisa.
Laura Castoldi, MEMS Process Technology Development Director in STMicroelectronics, described the role of PoliFab as a Lab-near-Fab partner for R&D in MEMS technology, thanks to its proximity to their MEMS production line in Agrate.
A round table for discussion on Startups, Companies and Research was then carried out between Andrea Rocchetto (Ephos co-founder), Anna Cesaratto (EssilorLuxottica) and Professor Marco Sampietro (I3N Lab, DEIB, Polimi), providing first-hand insight on the pivotal role of PoliFab as an aggregation center between academia and companies.
